What we are doing at Viking's Landing to keep you and our team safe
The current global pandemic has tested all of us. It’s created various challenges in each of our lives, including, in many cases, keeping us from the activities we love and people we care about most.
As things begin to reopen, we are extremely excited to welcome our clients back to Viking’s Landing, after having been closed since March 17th.
At the heart of Viking’s Landing is the Finnish concept of ‘Sisu’, which means determination, bravery, resiliency, persistency, and courage. As we all work together to navigate the challenges associated with this pandemic, Sisu has never been more relevant. And for those looking to strengthen their Sisu, throwing an axe provides an excellent opportunity to regain the feeling of being empowered. Viking’s Landing is the ideal place to reconnect with loved ones and rediscover your own resiliency in a safe and comfortable way.
Safety has always been a top priority at Viking’s Landing, and I wanted to personally update you on some of the things we’re doing to make sure that on your next visit, you feel completely safe and at ease.
First, we’ve reduced our maximum occupancy to 25 people—5 in the virtual reality centre, and 20 in the axe-throwing lounge (4 people per lane). The size of our venue, at more than 4,000 square feet, means it will be very easy to keep your distance from other guests during visits. And, there will be markings on the ground as a friendly reminder to maintain space.
The nice thing is, the reduced capacity actually creates a pretty cool experience for guests, because it’s going to be a bit more intimate than it was before.
We’ve also implemented more rigorous professional cleaning and sanitization of the entire facility on a regular basis. In addition, axes, VR headsets and other equipment will be thoroughly sanitized immediately after every use. VR headsets have also been modified to allow for more thorough disinfecting procedures, and to provide an extra barrier between the headset and your skin.
You can also take comfort in knowing that staff members have been screened before every shift, with a mandatory temperature check, and that staff are required to wear masks at all times and wash their hands at least every 30 minutes. Any staff members who feel unwell or who have come into contact with someone who shows symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to stay home and self-isolate.
Masks and hand sanitizer will also be available to anyone visiting Viking’s Landing, for those who would like to use them. You can also have your temperature checked with a non-contact thermometer prior to entry.
These are just some of the steps we’re taking to do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. I know that after a few months of isolation, many people are eager to get out and have fun. And it’s so important to be confident that wherever you’re going, you will be safe and secure. We take your safety extremely seriously at Viking’s Landing, and you can be sure that on your next visit, your wellbeing will be our top priority.
Our first opening weekend is going to be dedicated to front-line and essential workers. That’s our way of saying thanks to those who have bravely worked so hard over the past several months.
